New Delhi: The government has no plans to privatize the railway sector. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that my previous ministers had made the same promise.
The railway sector is a socially responsible institution. The biggest challenge in this sector is investment. The sector has accelerated since the railway budget in 2017 was merged with the general budget. Until 2014, the investment in the railways was only Rs 45,000 crore. However, it has doubled in 2017 to Rs 2,45,800 crore.
No state has been discriminated against as far as the railway sector is concerned. State Governments should work with the Central Government to run the railway sector efficiently.
Railway works will be carried out in all the states without any discrimination and for that the states should make land acquisition without any hindrance.
Work on the bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is in full swing. Bridges are to be constructed at a distance of 80 km. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, trains for farmers and trains for small and micro traders were introduced. The capacity of freight trains to handle cargo will be further enhanced.
