Kallakurichi : Kallakurichi Srimathi student death case transferred to CBCID. Principal and Secretary of the Sakthi ECR International School, Kallakurichi have been arrested – DGP C. Sylendra Babu.
Tamil Nadu Police DGP Sylendra Babu has said that the case of the death of a student in Kallakurichi has been transferred to the CBCID.
Alleging that the death of a female student of Kaniyavur private school near Chinnasalem in Kallakurichi district is a mystery, her relatives blocked the road near the school today and took part in the protest. The protestors involved in the road blockade tried to enter the school and start the demonstration.
The protest soon turned violent. As the protesters tried to overturn the police vehicle, they attacked the school. School buses were set on fire. The protesters also smashed the items there and carried away the items including the bench.
To control the situation, District Collector Sridhar said that prohibitory order 144 has been issued in Kallakurichi taluka, Chinna Salem and Nainar Palayam. Also, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, who posted on Twitter about the incident, said that he has ordered the Home Secretary and the Director General of Police to go to Kallakurichi to keep the protesters calm.
Accordingly, Home Secretary Paninder Reddy and DGP Sailendra Babu visited the scene of violence. Later, both met the press.
Speaking first, Home Secretary Paninder Reddy said that the death of Kallakurichi student should be investigated from all angles and a proper conclusion should be reached. He appealed to the public not to engage in violence and not to act in a way that would affect public peace.
DGP Shailendra Babu, DIG of Police, S.P. And 52 policemen were injured in the violence. Serious investigation is going on in the case. The principal, secretary and principal of the school have been arrested.
And the case has been transferred to CBCIT for further investigation. So far 70 people have been arrested for their involvement in the violence. DGP Shailendra Babu also said that the rioters have been identified through the video.
Srimathi, a student from Cuddalore district, was studying in class 12 in a private matric higher secondary school at Kaniyamur near Chinnasalem in Kallakurichi district. For the past few months, he used to stay in the hostel and visit his parents during the school holidays.
In this case, on July 13, around 5 am in the morning, the hostel guard saw the student being beaten in the school hostel premises and informed the school administration.
After this, the student was taken to the hospital. The doctors who examined the student said that she had already died.
It is also said that the student committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of the school hostel. Following this, the Chinnasalem police department is investigating and registering a case regarding the student’s death.
The body of the student was sent to Kallakurichi Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
But the relatives of the student blocked the road near the school demanding justice for the death of the student after refusing to buy the body. It is noteworthy that violence erupted then.
