Krishnagiri: Due to continuous heavy rains in Thenpennai river catchment area and Krishnagiri district, inflow of water to Krishnagiri KRP Dam has increased. As a result, flood warning has been issued for the people of 5 districts for the 2nd day.
Due to continuous heavy rains in the catchment area of Tenpenna river and Krishnagiri district for the last one week, the inflow of water to Krishnagiri KRP Dam is continuously increasing. The water inflow to the dam has increased to 5,700 cubic feet.
In this case, 7,500 cubic feet of water is released from the dam through the main sluices. Of the total height of the dam of 52 feet, there is currently a water reserve of 50 feet. Due to the continuous increase in water flow in the dam, the water in the river has been released considering the safety of the dam.
As a result, a flood warning has been issued to the people along the banks of Tenpenna River in the five districts of Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Cuddalore.
Accordingly, people have been requested not to come to the Thenpennai river to bathe or graze their cattle. Also public and tourists are prohibited from visiting KRP Dam.
