Social media app Facebook has come up with a new feed option for its users, to make it easier for users to see all the posts. Many users were not liking Facebook’s recommendation system and they were raising questions about the posts appearing in the Home Feed and their order. The company has given the option to the users to see the posts shared by friends, pages or groups according to them.
Mark Zuckerberg gave information in the official post
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new Feeds tab in an official Facebook post. He said that with the help of the new tab, users will be able to see posts related to Pages and Groups in chronological order apart from their friends and family. As the company used to show before the change in its recommendation engine. Note that posts are shown in chronological order in the order they were shared.
Personalized feed will be visible as before
Zuckerberg wrote in his Facebook post, ‘Starting today we are launching the Feeds tab, which will allow you to see posts from your friends, groups and Pages in different chronological order.
He wrote, ‘On opening the app, users will continue to see the Home tab as before, where they will get a personalized feed. In this feed, Facebook’s discovery engine will continue to show posts according to the preferences of the users.
Facebook app’s feed split into two
After the new change, the feed of the Facebook app in both Android and iOS platforms has been divided into two parts. In the first Home tab, users will continue to see the version of the feed that Facebook shows based on its recommendation system. On the other hand, in the second feeds tab, users will be shown posts from their favourites, friends and the pages and groups they follow, in chronological order.
Facebook is lagging behind in terms of popularity
The Meta -owned app has made changes to Feed at a time when Facebook is lagging behind TikTok in terms of popularity. In the company’s earnings call this year, Mark Zuckerberg himself has also admitted that its userbase is not growing as expected. It’s too early to say whether the changes to feeds lead to an increase in the company’s userbase.
Facebook may offer multiple profiles feature
Meta platforms will soon give users the option to create multiple profiles with the help of a single Facebook account. With this change, the company wants to increase the activity of users on social networks. The new feature is currently in the testing phase and will help users to create up to five different profiles from a single account. However, the timeline related to its official rollout has not been revealed yet.
