After becoming popular in the passenger segment, efforts are now being made to introduce electric vehicles in the racing segment as well. Many foreign companies have already brought such cars in the market.
A similar attempt has been made in India as well. An electric racing car made in India will also take part in several world-class events to be held this year.
Mumbai’s college racing team introduced a new electric racing car
The Orion Racing team of KJ Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai introduced an electric car in formula racing style on 15th June.
This is the first car of its kind that has been completely made in the country. The team has named this car ‘Lemnos’.
This team says that they are also working on a plan to make such a driverless car by 2024.
This car will make its presence globally
Lemnos will make its first global appearance in July this year at the Formula Student Austria 2022 event at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Orion Racing will be the only Indian team to participate in this race.
The team will then take it to the ‘Formula Student Germany 2022’ to be held at the Hockenheiming F1 racetrack in Germany in August. The Orion Racing team has so far built 14 cars and won 52 prizes.
The car is made with the help of ‘Godrej and Boyce’
This car has been made by Orion team with the help of Godrej & Boyce, a company of Godrej Group.
It is powered by Emrex 288 MV motor which produces a maximum power of 100kW. To regulate this motor, the Unitech Bamokar D3-700 controller has been installed in the car.
It has a battery pack of 430V. This car has made a maximum of 4600 RPM due to its design and motor efficiency.
This is the biggest feature of this car
Very interesting technology has been used behind this car. If there is any defect in any cell or part of this car, it will be shut down immediately for safety so that no harm is caused to the driver.
