Washington: US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation. A senior White House official said the discussion was held for the fifth time.
He said that this conversation was held between the two leaders amid the tense situation in the relationship between the two countries. The two leaders also reportedly discussed areas where the two countries could work together, including climate change and health care.
Despite the differences between the two countries, the US President said during the meeting that the cooperation between the US and China in various fields would be beneficial not only to the people of the two countries but also internationally.
Biden said that there is no change in the policy of the United States regarding Taiwan, and that the United States strongly opposes unilateral efforts against peace and stability in the region.
White House sources said that the two leaders agreed to meet in person during the talks.
