Seeing the increasing demand for electric vehicles (EVs), Bajaj launched its famous scooter ‘ Bajaj Chetak ‘ in a new electric avatar in the year 2020.
Chetak is still recognized in India because of its petrol variants that came decades ago. The company has sold more than 14,000 units of this new electric scooter since its launch. Recently Bajaj has increased the prices of this scooter.
This is the new price of Bajaj Chetak
At the time of launch, Bajaj introduced the Chetak Electric in two variants (Urban and Premium). At that time their ex-showroom prices were kept at Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.15 lakh respectively. However, since then they have increased several times.
At present, the company is selling only premium variants. Till last month, it was priced at Rs 1.41 lakh. Now its price has increased by Rs 12,749 to Rs 1.54 lakh.
What is its range?
Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 3kWh lithium-ion battery, which takes about five hours to fully charge.
The electric motor of this scooter has the ability to deliver a maximum power of 5.3bhp along with a maximum torque of 16.2Nm.
The company claims that its battery is capable of covering a distance of 90 km in a single charge.
Also, this scooter is equipped with Combined Braking System (CBS) for better handling on the roads.
Many features given for security
The company has given many safety features for the safety of the rider in it.
This electric scooter is fitted with disc brakes at the front wheel and drum brakes at the rear. It also has a 48V electric traction system.
Apart from this, link type forks have been installed in the front and mono shock unit at the rear. This includes an instrument cluster with Bluetooth-connectivity, LED lighting and turn signal lights along with blinking lights.
A new plant of Bajaj for manufacturing electric vehicles
Last month, Bajaj inaugurated a new plant for manufacturing electric vehicles in Akurdi, Pune.
This new plant has been specially designed to increase the production of Chetak. So that with this it can meet the growing demand of Bajaj Chetak and the company will be able to manufacture five lakh electric vehicles annually.
The company currently has an outstanding order of 16,000 units.
