Mumbai: Suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharmawar’s troubles have intensified. Mumbai Police has taken cognizance of the complaint lodged by Raza Academy and has now issued summons to them. Nupur Sharma has been ordered to appear on June 13.
Nupur Sharma had on May 27 made an offensive statement against the Prophet Mohammed. This statement has heated up the atmosphere in the country. Complaints were also lodged against Nupur Sharma in various police stations across the country over the controversial statement.
Waqas Ahmed Sagir Ahmed Malik, a member of Raza Academy, had on May 30 filed a case against suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma at the Bhiwandi city police station under various sections for hurting the feelings of Muslims.
Raza Academy members along with a delegation met senior police inspector Chetan Kakade at Bhiwandi police station to inquire into the case against Sharma. Nupur Sharma has since been summoned to Bhiwandi police station on June 13.
Following this, a case was registered against suspended BJP leader Naveen Jindal at Bhiwandi city police station on June 4 and two days ago, he was also summoned to appear before the police station on June 15. Therefore, there is a possibility of increasing the difficulty of both.
