‘Red Alert’ for 8 districts in Kerala state

Due to heavy rains in the state of Kerala, red alert has been issued for 8 districts.

The state of Kerala is receiving heavy rains. The normal life of the people has been severely affected due to continuous heavy rains in various areas. The India Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain warning for 8 districts namely Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur.

The water levels of rivers including Bombay, Manimala and Achankovil in Pathanamthitta district have crossed the danger level.

The district officials said that due to landslides and floods in various areas, people have taken shelter in relief camps. Water in various dams has reached danger level. In this case, the Central Meteorological Center has predicted widespread rain from 4th to 8th August.

18 people have lost their lives in the past few days due to landslides and floods in Kerala due to rains. The state government said that thousands of people have shifted to relief camps.
