Sivagangai: A sensational verdict has been given to 27 people in the Kachanantham massacre case that rocked Tamil Nadu. A temple festival was going on last year 2018 in Kachanantham village near Tiruppachetty in Sivagangai district. At that time, a gang belonging to another community entered Kachannattu during the previous enmity, vandalized the houses of members of the Scheduled Community and attacked them severely with weapons like sickles and knives.
Various organizations protested across Tamil Nadu demanding justice for this massacre which caused great tension. New Tamilnadu Party President Dr. Krishnasamy, director Pa. Ranjith and others participated in the protests in Madurai.
Suman, Arunkumar, Chandrakumar, Agniraj, Rajes and 33 others were booked and arrested for their involvement in this incident. The case was pending in Sivagangai SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Court. Two accused died in between. 3 boys were acquitted.
Judge Muthukumaran declared all the 27 accused guilty on the 1st of the case investigations.
Sentencing was adjourned to the 3rd and then to the 5th. In this situation, he sentenced all those who were declared guilty to life imprisonment.
