5G Spectrum Auction 2022: So far, the government has received bids worth Rs 1.49 lakh crore for the auction of 5G spectrum. Today i.e. Wednesday 27th July was the second day of the auction and today five rounds of auction were held. According to a report by news agency PTI, a total of 9 rounds of auction have been held so far and it will continue for the third day on Thursday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Adani Data had bid for Rs 1.45 lakh crore on the first day of bidding. Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the auction for the second day is over and it will continue on Thursday.”There was good competition for all the bands put up in the auction. At the end of the ninth round of bidding, bids worth Rs 1,49,454 crore were received,” he said.

According to a PTI report, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio is bidding most aggressively among the companies involved in the bidding. The minister said that there is a good demand for spectrum in all bands.

Details about the bids have not been revealed yet. However, ICICI Securities said that according to its estimates, Reliance Jio can bid for the highest spectrum worth Rs 80,100 crore. The company may select 10 MHz of spectrum in the most valuable band – 700 MHz.

Bharti Airtel, on the other hand, may bid for spectrum in the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands, possibly worth Rs 45,000 crore. This is 20 percent more than expected. Vodafone Idea Limited can bid for spectrum worth Rs 18,400 crore and Adani Data Networks for 26 GHz spectrum across the country.

ICICI Securities said,”Adani Data Networks appears to have bid for 26 GHz spectrum in 20 circles excluding Delhi and Kolkata. The company’s total spectrum purchase is likely to be 3350 MHz worth Rs 900 crore. Our estimates are tentative. As the data is not showing the complete purchase of Adani as of now. We are of the view that the company should buy 200 MHz spectrum for all circles except Gujarat. In Gujarat it would have bought 400 MHz.”
