Microblogging platform Twitter will help users in shopping through its app. The company has started testing a new feature called ‘Product Drop’, which will inform users about upcoming products.
In this way, if Twitter users want to buy a product, then they will be able to set a reminder on it. As soon as the product is listed on the platform, users will be asked to buy it by sending reminders and will be told that the product has been launched.
A new ‘remind me’ button will appear below the tweet
Twitter has said that along with product drops, whenever a merchant tweets about upcoming launches, customers will be shown a new button.
Customers will be shown a ‘remind me’ button at the bottom of the tweet, which if tapped will send them reminders on product launch.
A reminder will appear in the notification tab 15 minutes before the product launch, tapping on which will show the ‘Shop on Website’ button.
Twitter will also show product details page
Twitter will also display a product details page to make the shopping experience easier for customers.
On this page all the necessary information related to the product will be found, which will include the price of the product, its photos and description.
In addition, clickable hashtags will also appear here, which can be clicked or tapped to see what other users are saying about this product.
This page will be shown to the users before tapping or clicking on the ‘Remind me’ button.
The microblogging platform was earlier to be named ‘Friendstalker’ and was spelled ‘Twttr’ at the time of launch. At the same time, the company’s blue bird logo is named ‘Larry’. For the first three years, Twitter did not get even a dollar in revenue.
Merchants and customers will both get benefit
The company has said that the product drop feature has been designed in such a way that its benefits can be availed by both the customers and the merchants.
While customers often follow products before they are launched, merchants also want as many users to know about their new products as possible. The company has said that initially this feature will be tested only in the US.
Testing is running on iOS only
Twitter has said that the new feature is being tested in the English language with select users using Twitter on iOS.
The social media company has partnered with several brands for this feature, including Deor, FossilxJeff Staples, Home Depot, LEGO and Union Los Angeles.
In the coming days, the company can increase this list and provide shopping-related features in other markets as well.
Twitter Shops feature also brought microblogging app
Product drops aren’t the only feature associated with e-commerce. Apart from this, in March, the company had brought a feature called Twitter Shops , with the help of which merchants could showcase a collection of up to 50 products on their Twitter profile.
With the new feature, users were shown a ‘view shop’ button on the merchant’s account, tapping on which they could collect information about different products.
