California-based tech company Apple’s Annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2022 event has started.
The company has also launched the M2 chip and a completely redesigned MacBook Air among the announcements related to the latest software versions.
After nearly four years, Apple has changed the design of the MacBook Air and it has been launched with Retina Display.
Apart from the big performance upgrade, the screen size of this laptop has also been increased.
Got hardware features like MacBook Pro
Like the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models launched last year, Apple has extended MagSafe support to the new MacBook Air.
In the year 2020, it did get a performance upgrade with the M1 silicon chip, but the design was not changed.
Now the company has launched a new MacBook Air with in-house M2 chip and 13.6 inch display. It has two Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack.
24GB RAM support in M2 chip
The new M2 chip comes with an 8-core CPU, up to 10-core GPU and up to 24GB of RAM. Made on 5nm technology, this chip will get 35 percent GPU performance compared to M1.
The MacBook Air has a smaller notch similar to the last year’s MacBook Pro , which houses a 1080p webcam.
Apple claims that this webcam will get two times better low-light performance than the previous MacBook Air.
Similar to New MacBook Pro Design
The design of the MacBook Air is similar to the recently launched MacBook Pro, but it is more square.
For the first time, the design of the MacBook Air is not as thick as the previous models and the new model with a very slim design weighs only 1.22 kg.
In addition to Touch ID support, it has four speakers and a microphone.
The company has brought it in four color options, which include Silver, Space Grey, Starlight and Midnight.
Higher price than previous models
The upgrades received on the MacBook Air have also affected its price and it is costlier than all the previous models.
Its price starts from $1,199 (about Rs 93,300), which is $ 200 more than the previous model.
Official information has not been given about when its sale will start, but its pre-booking can start from next month.
Customers will also continue to have the option to buy the M1 powered MacBook Air for $999.
