Weather News Updates: Cloud bursts in Dehradun, Vaishnodevi Yatra resumes, no cyclone warning in Odisha

There was heavy rain in some parts due to cloudburst in Dehradun Raipur block, after which the SDRF team immediately reached the spot and rescued all the people trapped in the village.

Monsoon continues to wreak havoc in some parts of the country with Odisha being the worst affected state. According to the IMD, the pressure increased in the Bay of Bengal, causing rain in Odisha and West Bengal. However, the IMD has ruled out the possibility of a cyclone for now.

IMD Director General Mrutunjay Mohapatra told PTI,”There is no chance of a cyclone this time. We never said that the system would turn into a cyclone. According to IMD, North Odisha is likely to receive maximum rainfall. While the intensity of rain is likely to increase in the western districts as well. The IMD had also issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rains for several areas of Odisha, including Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts.

Cloud bursts in Dehradun district, many people rescued

Heavy rains lashed parts of Uttarakhand with the occurrence of cloudburst in Raipur block of Dehradun district. SDRF team was immediately sent to the spot and all the people trapped in the village were rescued. According to SDRF, some of the stranded people took shelter in a nearby resort.

At the same time, a part of a bridge connecting Raipur to Dehradun airport has been washed away due to severe floods. River Ganga (Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, River Ganga) is currently flowing near the danger mark in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

Vaishno Devi Yatra was disrupted due to rain

A visit to the Vaishno Devi temple atop Trikuta hills in Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir was temporarily suspended on Friday evening following heavy rains. Chief Executive Officer of Vaishno Devi Shrine Board said that the situation is under control. There is no report of any casualty or damage. The temple journey has now started again.

Schools ordered to be closed today due to incessant rains in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh

The weather forecast has been declared in Mandi for more than two days incessant rain and heavy rain in the next 24 hours. In view of this, all government and private educational institutions (except colleges and ITIs) have been ordered to remain closed on August 20.
