A shooting incident at a Texas elementary school has once again raised questions about America’s gun culture. This was the 27th incident of shelling in a US school this year. Apart from this, so far this year there have been 8 incidents of mass shootings in America.
The gunman who killed 21 people, including 19 children, in a Texas school shooting has been identified as 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos. Ramos was later killed in police action. There is no concrete information about why Ramos committed these murders. It is being told that he had to be a victim of bullying during his school days in childhood and due to this he had to drop out of school.
Ramos entered the school carrying a handgun and a semiautomatic rifle and started firing indiscriminately at the children. About 10 days before this, there was a shooting incident at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, in which 10 black people were killed.
According to US media reports, the young man is suspected to have shot his grandmother first.”He opened fire and killed people. 19 children and two adults have died,” a US police officer said. Two police officers were also shot, but they are expected to recover, he said.
103 killed in firing this year
According to a report, there have been 27 incidents of school shelling in the US so far this year. A total of 103 people have died during this period. After this incident, there has been a demand to once again ban the sale of guns in America.
Biden also in support of a ban on arms sales
US President Joe Biden has also spoken of taking steps to stop the sale of arms. Biden said,”When will we finally stand up against those who support (the sale of) guns?I’m fed up with it, I’m tired. We have to act.””These types of mass shootings happen very rarely anywhere else in the world. Why?”
