Two people of Indian origin competing for the post of UK Prime Minister?

Two Indian-origin politicians are vying for the UK's top job.

London: Two Indian-origin politicians are vying for the UK’s top job. Both Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman have expressed interest in running for the post of British Prime Minister.

Famous I.T. Rishi Sunak (49), son-in-law of Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy, is one of the Indian-origin contenders in the race to become Britain’s next prime minister.

Suella Braverman of Indian origin is competing against him. Suella Braverman was the Attorney General in the British Cabinet. He was the first to announce his intention to contest for the post of Prime Minister.

Suella Braverman, 42, has become the first member of Boris Johnson’s cabinet to announce her candidacy for prime minister. He announced his intention before Johnson announced his resignation as Prime Minister. It happened on Wednesday night.

Once a staunch supporter of Johnson, he joined a group urging the British prime minister to step down after several ministers in Johnson’s cabinet resigned.

Suella Braverman was born in Harrow, Greater London, to Indian-origin parents Christy and Uma Fernandez. He started his political career in 2005.

He contested the general election in Leicester East. He was appointed Attorney General for Britain and Wales in 2020.
