United States: US President Joe Biden has announced that Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has been killed in a drone strike.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Joe Biden said that at his direction, an unmanned drone attack was carried out on Saturday in the Sherpur district of the Afghan capital, Kabul.
While Ayman al-Zawahiri was standing on the balcony of his house, two missiles were reportedly fired by a CIA drone. The US government said that only Zawahiri died and his family was not harmed.
After the killing of Osama bin Laden, the US government continued to search for Zawahiri, who served as the head of the organization. In this case, President Biden has said that after months of planning, he approved the attack plan and justice has been served to the victims of Zawahiri’s killing. Biden also accused Zawahiri of having a major role in the attack on the Twin Towers.
The slain Zawahiri was known as Osama bin Laden’s right-hand man. After Bin Laden’s death, he became the leader of Al Qaeda. He is an eye specialist.
