London: A British man has been diagnosed with monkey pox while visiting Nigeria. Monkey pox is a disease that can be transmitted from infected animals to humans. Britain’s health officials say a recent visit to Nigeria has confirmed the spread of the disease.
‘Monkey measles is a rare viral infection. It is not easily transmitted to humans. Most cases of the disease will heal in a few weeks. However, it can sometimes cause serious harm, ” the UK Health Care Agency said.
Colin Brown, an official with the Health Care Agency, said the disease was not easily transmitted to the general population and that the overall risk to the general population was very low.
The victim is being treated in an isolated ward at St. Thomas Hospital. And to inform those who were in close contact with him and to provide appropriate health advice as a precautionary measure. In particular, when the victim arrives on a flight to the UK, they are there to contact the passenger sitting next to him.
Fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, chills and fatigue are the early symptoms of the disease. Sometimes itching can occur on the body. It often starts on the face and then spreads to other parts of the body causing itching and sores.
People who are in close contact with victims are more likely to spread the virus. The virus enters the skin through the airways, eyes, nose or mouth.
Monkeypox was first diagnosed in 2018 in the UK. Only a few have since been confirmed vulnerable.
