Monkeypox: Monkeypox virus is spreading rapidly in the United States these days. In such a situation, President Joe Biden has declared a Public HealthEmergency. Federal funding and resources will be helped to combat this virus. On August 2, President Biden tasked two top officials to deal with the virus.
This announcement will be effective for 90 days initially. It can be extended further as per the need. There have been more than 6600 cases of monkeypox in America. About a quarter of these were from New York State. However, experts believe that the actual number may be much higher in the current outbreak.
Lack of vaccine
This announcement has been made at such a time. When the Biden administration is facing criticism over the availability of the monkeypox vaccine. Clinics in large cities such as New York and San Francisco say they have not received enough doses of the two-dose vaccine to meet demand.
Some have even had to stop giving the second dose to ensure the supply of the first dose. At the same time, US President Joe Biden says that I am committed to theresponse to monkeypox. Accelerate vaccine delivery, increase the number of tests and educate at-risk communities.
India serious about monkeypox
So far 9 patients of monkeypox have been found in India. Out of which one patient has died. To deal with this, the central government had called a meeting with health experts. The Director of Emergency Medical Relief (EMR) L Swasticharan presided over the meeting. Explain that EMR is a department of the Ministry of Health.
To deal with monkeypox, 70 isolation rooms have been set up in 6 hospitals of Delhi. Nodal centers for treatment of monkeypox patients and suspected patients have been set up at Loknayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. While 10-10 isolation rooms have been made in the other five hospitals.
