Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered an online speech at the US Congress on the 16th. He emphasizes that “Russia is attacking not only our territory, but also basic human values and the right to live freely.”
He called for additional no-fly zones over Ukraine, additional support such as the provision of air defense systems and fighters, and the total withdrawal of US companies from Russia.
“Remember the attack on Pearl Harbor (by Japan) in 1941. Remember the simultaneous US terrorist attacks (2001). The attack from the air turned the city into a battlefield. We are from Russia. I’ve been experiencing the same thing every day, every night, for the last three weeks with an attack from the air. ”
The second half of the speech was spoken in English. “We are fighting not only for Ukraine, but for European values, the future of the world. We want the United States, and President Biden, the leader of the United States, to be the leader of peace.” ..
Between the speeches, footage of the bombarded Ukrainian city and the sacrifice of civilians was shown.
Zelensky also addressed the British parliament on the 8th and the Canadian parliament on the 15th, calling for increased involvement in Ukraine.
