The Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka has asked all government and government-recognized private schools in Colombo city to conduct online classes from next week in view of the electricity supply problem, the Daily Mirror newspaper reported.
According to the circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration and Internal Affairs on Friday, ‘Keeping in view the restrictions on fuel supply, poor public transport system and difficulties in the use of private vehicles, this circular has been issued to work with minimum staff from Monday. allows.’
According to the circular, however, all employees working in the health sector will continue to work. Sri Lanka is under pressure to pay for its imports in foreign currency as the country’s supply of fuel is sharply reduced, which has brought the country’s economy to a standstill.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed its commitment to help the troubled Sri Lanka. In this regard, a team of the global lender will visit Colombo from Monday to discuss the assistance programme.

Due to the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka, there has been a severe shortage of essential commodities like food, medicine, cooking gas and fuel.
The IMF said in response to an email to local media that a team from the International Monetary Fund is visiting Colombo from June 20-30 to continue discussions on the economic program. Sri Lanka wants an aid facility of 4-5 billion US dollars from the IMF.
